‘Nah, I’m Good’: Kevin Hart Explains What Made Him Turn Down a Trip to Space

Kevin Hart has passed up on taking a trip to space.

A couple of days after Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and business honcho Richard Branson took their suborbital flight to the edge of space, Hart has revealed he too was offered the opportunity to go on the flight but decided to pass due to the risks.

Explaining the situation to his co-hosts in an episode of his SiriusXM show “Straight From The Hart,” he said, “I was offered a seat on a shuttle to space, and the offer came with wanting to document a celebrity’s experience. They said they wanted to document my experience from start to finish and have me complete it. It was like 30, 45 days of spending time with a team, and then you’re looking at a 60- to 90-minute trip.”

Hart was also offered a monetary incentive to go on the expedition, but said it “isn’t important” enough to disclose. The comedian-actor said what made him turn down the opportunity was the likelihood of the success of the trip.

The father of four said, “I said, ‘I would love to know the record of space shuttles that made it versus the ones that didn’t. What’s the record of success versus non-success?’ And that’s my reason. That number is too close. It’s not a crazy upside down number one way or the other. It’s too f—–g close, and that’s that for me.”

The “Fatherhood” actor said his young children were a big part of the reason why he didn’t want to to risk the chance of going to space. “At this point, when you’ve got these little ones, nah, I can’t f-ck around with space at this point.” However, he did say that he may reconsider in the future. “Now,  if I’m on the other side of life — if I’m 60, 65 — my kids are a certain age, I’ve seen all the flowers blossom, and I’d have lived life, [then] that’s something that you punctuate it with.”

Fans responded to the news with one person saying, “Kevin said nah I’m good” and another saying “He said AHT AHT.”

Hart’s two oldest children, Heaven and Hendrix, are from his previous marriage with Torrei Hart and he had his youngest two children, Kenzo and Kaori, with his current wife Eniko Hart.
