Kandi Burruss disclosed on July 21 her thoughts of a rumored “Real Housewives of Atlanta” season 14 cast shakeup during an interview on the “Housewives Nightcap” segment of “Access Hollywood.” The current cast members include Burruss alongside Kenya Moore, Porsha Williams, Cynthia Bailey, and Drew Sidora.
This rumor, which apparently has been circulating for months, is that some current cast members could be replaced and former “RHOA” star Sheree Whitfield could return.
Whitfield was initially a part of the Atlanta “Housewives” franchise from seasons 1 through 4 before returning as a “friend of the show” in season 8. The mother of three ultimately came back as a full-time cast member in seasons 9 and 10 prior to making her final departure from the show in 2018.
Before addressing Whitfield’s alleged return, Burruss said on mark 8:45 that she would be coming back as a series regular for season 14 despite her previous ambivalent comments.
“I think the thing about it, you know, when people asked me before do I ever think about maybe not being there anymore. I think just as a real person I constantly have thoughts of like, ‘OK, is this my time to stay or should I go, whatever.’ Because I read the blogs just like everybody else. … So those thoughts cross my mind as well as of now I’m here, and we shall see how it goes.”
When asked about Whitfield, the Xscape singer stated she’s “here for it,” although she doesn’t know much about the rumored possibility. “I always love Sheree. She’s always good TV to me. She’s had some very explosive moments in some of these past seasons. So, I’m here for it, honestly. If they decide that they want Sheree to come back, I’m here for it.”
The “Don’t Think I’m Not” vocalist continued, “I always considered myself to have a good relationship with Sheree. I mean, we’ve had our moments on the show where sometimes we didn’t see eye to eye. But for the most part, you know, I still see her outside of the show sometimes. We still run into each other, and I’ve got much love for Sheree.”
When asked if there was a cast shakeup who does she feel shouldn’t come back, Burruss simply responded “I don’t play into that.”
She added, “Everybody on this cast has something that adds to the show. It’s never one person that can carry the show by [themselves]. So all of our stories combined to me is what makes the show so good. So I don’t necessarily say I need to see any of them leave.” She wrapped it up by saying she would like last season’s cast members including the newest additions like Drew Sidora to return in the upcoming season especially when the world is opening back up following the global shutdown due to the pandemic.
Although Whitfield’s potential return has not been confirmed, TMZ reports that sources close to production revealed that the 51-year-old has been in talks with “RHOA” producers for several weeks discussing her comeback. The outlet also claimed that if Whitfield signs on for season 14 she would want to be a series regular, highlighting her newfound relationship with her boo Tyrone Gilliams as a storyline. Gilliams and Whitfield, who have dated previously in the past, sparked reconciliation rumors earlier this year following his release from prison.
Despite not personally confirming anything, Whitfield has been playing into the allegations by posting cryptic uploads, including a photo where she is seen holding a phone while lounging in the pool. She added more fuel to the rumor fire by accompanying the pic with this telling caption,” ……. I heard that too!! #chatter #Ohthisisgettingjuicy.”
