‘18 Nominations and You Guys Canceled It’: Fans Are Baffled After ‘Lovecraft Country’ Receives 18 Emmy Nominations

Emmy nominations are in, and fans of HBO’s hit series “Lovecraft Country” are more perplexed now than they were a few weeks ago when it was announced that the supernatural horror series set during the 1950s Jim Crow era would not be returning for a second season.

According to Deadline, the show, starring Jonathan Majors, Jurnee Smollett, and Michael K. Williams, racked up a stunning 18 nominations, including a nominations for Outstanding Drama Series, Drama Actress, Drama Actor, Drama Supporting Actor, just to name a few.

Of course, this latest announcement left fans confused as they were still trying to make sense of how a show that had been not only popular but one of the leading shows on HBO’s streaming service HBO Max got canceled. Viewers took to their social media accounts to air out their frustrations, including one Twitter user who wrote, “Is this cancellation the kind of thing we can expect from this @Discovery merger? 18 Emmy nominations and no second season? This is absurd mismanagement.”
