‘Grandma Dee Watcha Doing?’: ‘Love and Hip Hop: Atlanta’ Star Momma Dee Garners Mixed Reviews Over Her Cleavage-Baring Top

As the saying goes, “you’re only as old as you feel,” and Momma Dee appears to be feeling very young, given by the looks she was serving in a recent social media post.

On Tuesday, Jan. 26, the “Love and Hip Hop Atlanta” star uploaded two photos of herself wearing a rather revealing black crop top that partially covered her bosom. Momma Dee wore matching black leggings as she posed for the pic with both hands placed on her snatched hips.

The posts were an attempt to promote the store from which she purchased the outfit. However, her efforts derailed after the ensemble itself took fans by surprise. Although the photo garnered over 26,000 likes, supporters of the VH1 reality star were stunned that the 57-year-old would make such a bold fashion choice, including one Instagram user who wrote, “Grandma Dee watcha doing? 👀.”

Another person commented, “You look good Mama Dee” They added, “All I’m going to say please don’t try to keep up with these young girls in that order you’re beautiful woman.” A third wrote: “SMH just ridiculous don’t make sense at all.”

Still, some applauded Momma Dee’s confidence, including one person who wrote, “You not old till you say you old or move like you old.” That person added, “gone head mama dee.. 🔥🔥.” “UhOoooo in my loud voice😂 💃🏾looking all single and ready to mingle😂😂😂 You Go Girllll,” a fifth expressed.

This isn’t the first time Lil Scrappy’s mother has been called out for her fashion choices. Last year, fans scolded her when she shared a photo giving fans another peek at her tummy. “Even tho I can’t leave The Palace, I’m still sexy 👑👑👑! Stay safe and remember to keep your social distance!!!” the caption read at the time.  Although the comments were harsh, Momma Dee didn’t appear to be bothered.

Momma Dee has revealed in the past that she got some work done, but never specified for what reasons she went under the knife. However, she did admit that she had two surgical procedures less than 30 days apart from each other. The “I Deserve” songstress appears to be doing just fine.

Democracy needs journalism it can trust.

This election season, the stakes are higher than usual — and so is the pressure on newsrooms to soften their coverage, stay quiet, or just disappear. Independent reporting, the kind that answers to readers instead of advertisers or political pressure, matters more in a moment like this, not less.

For over 14 years, Atlanta Black Star has stayed independent and reader-funded. We have no corporate owner and no shareholders telling us what to cover or how to cover it. That independence is also our biggest vulnerability: nothing protects it except readers choosing to fund it directly.

Newspaper ad revenue has fallen more than 80% since 2005, and local newsrooms are closing at a rate of roughly two a week nationwide. When outlets go under in a moment like this, it's rarely the independent, reader-funded ones that get to stick around.

We know a request for support isn't why you came here. But without readers choosing to fund this work directly, the depth of reporting we can do at home and abroad shrinks along with everyone else's. If you're not in a position to give, that doesn't change how much we value you as a reader.

If you are able to, a recurring contribution does more for us than a single one-time gift, because it lets us plan the next investigation instead of just the next invoice. It takes about 30 seconds, no long form, no account. Thank you for continuing to support independent journalism and freedom of the press.
