Singer Jeremih has been hospitalized and placed on a ventilator after contracting COVID-19, according to multiple reports.
TMZ reported that Jeremih, whose real name is Jeremy Felton, is allegedly in ICU after the “Birthday Sex” singer’s health suddenly worsened. No word how long the 33 year old had been in the hospital. However, on Saturday, Nov. 14, fellow celebrity friends took to social media sending their well wishes and prayers to the star.
On Sunday, Nov. 15, rapper 50 Cent shared a photo of him and the singer on Instagram, asking for prayers. The actor also provided a little more information surrounding the situation. “pray for my boy @jeremih he’s not doing good this covid shit is real 🙏🏿 he’s in ICU in Chicago,” the Queens, New York rapper captioned the post. The “21 Questions” rapper later tweeted an update on his friend, saying, “Thank you for praying for my boy Jeremih he is responsive today, doing a little better.”
Producer Hitmaka requested that his fans on Instagram pray for “The Light” singer that same day as well. He also revealed that the photo he shared of Jeremih was posted with the star’s mother’s blessings. “I need everyone to pray for my brother @jeremih this message is posted with his mothers blessings❤️.”
Fellow Chicago native Chance The Rapper tweeted out Saturday, “Please if you can take a second to pray for my friend Jeremih, he is like a brother to me and he’s ill right now.” He added, “I believe in the healing power of Jesus so if you can for me please please say a prayer over him.” The post received over 54,000 likes from fans stressing the importance of being cautious of the deadly disease.
One Twitter user wrote, “Please take Covid seriously….even if you are young. It does not discriminate and affects all Americans.” They added, “Mask up abs wash your hands often. May the Heavenly Father rest his healing hands upon Jeremih in his hour of need and restore strength to his weakened body.”
Jeremih made his breakthrough in 2009 following the release of his debut single “Birthday Sex.” The track peaked at number four on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 Charts.
Representatives for the star have yet to speak out publicly on his health. Jeremih is the latest celebrity to contract the deadly illness, including Erykah Badu and Fred Hammond. They both recently revealed over the weekend that they too tested positive for the virus. As of late, the novel coronavirus has already killed over 246,000 people in the U.S. alone, according to data from The New York Times.
