Socialite Lori Harvey won’t be facing any jail time for her involvement in a 2019 hit-and-run case. Instead, the 23 year old was sentenced to two years of probation, according to TMZ.
Lori reportedly accepted a plea deal when she appeared before a judge last week. The star pleaded not guilty, and in exchange for her punishment, she agreed to plead no contest to one misdemeanor count of resisting arrest — dodging a possible sentence of one year in prison. The details surrounding her probation, however, have not yet been made public.
As previously reported, on Sunday, Oct. 20, 2019, Lori crashed her vehicle into another car in Beverly Hills, California, then attempted to leave the scene. At the time, she was arrested on a misdemeanor hit-and-run charge pending a full police investigation. According to a witness who spoke to TMZ, Lori was texting and driving when her Mercedes G-Wagon smashed into a Toyota Prius, which resulted in her vehicle being knocked on its side.
The Beverly Hills Police Department released a statement to Atlanta Black Star at the time, stating, “On 10/20/19 at 9:48 p.m., the Beverly Hills Police Department received a report of a traffic collision in the 200-block of Moreno Drive. A sedan was traveling north on Moreno when it collided with an unoccupied parked vehicle. No injuries were reported.”
The statement continued, “When police arrived, the driver of the sedan had left the scene of the collision. The driver, determined to be Lori Harvey, was ultimately contacted by police in the area. Due to the fact that Harvey left the scene of the collision without providing her information or contacting police as required by law, and caused a delayed in the police investigation, she was cited for misdemeanor hit and run.”
Shortly afterward, the model received a ticket and signed a document to appear in court on Jan. 21, 2020. She was released from the scene instead of being booked.
Lori remained quiet about the incident, and so did her famous stepfather, comedian Steve Harvey. The news came as rumors surfaced that Lori and music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs, who reportedly had been romantically linked together, parted ways.
