‘Mind Your Business Lady’: White Woman Gets Unexpected Response from Texas Man Defending Neighbor’s Black Lives Matter Flag

A Texas woman caught the wrong end of a water hose after she got into a confrontation with her neighbor over a Black Lives Matter flag.

The incident occurred on Oct. 7 in suburban Austin, according to KXAN-TV.

A video taken by a witness shows Doherty clutching a water hose with a sprinkler attachment as he went back and forth with the woman. He repeatedly told her to leave and when she didn’t he sprayed her with water, causing her to slip and fall a couple times. She began to chase him and Doherty continued to spray her until she yanked the hose from his hands. The video cut off as a witness offered to call the police over his behavior.

Doherty told KXAN the row began after the woman began to berate his neighbor because she had a Black Lives Matter flag in her yard. The woman was allegedly upset because the BLM flag was featured more prominently than the American flag. He says she screamed “white lives matter” during the altercation, which lasted about 30 minutes.

When Doherty came outside to defend his neighbor, the woman directed her vitriol toward him.

“She told me where to stuff it,” he recalled. “I don’t remember her exact words, but she swore at me, yelled at me, and then I blew it off.”

He initially sprayed the water on her car, hoping she’d back off, but it didn’t work.

“She adopts a really aggressive stance, and she told me to turn my water hose off, and I just wasn’t going to do it,” Doherty said. “I’m on my property, and she was being ridiculous and abusive and saying the worst things for half an hour. I’m not going to back down on my property.”

The video went viral and garnered thousands of views across Facebook, Twitter, TikTok and Reddit. The video received more than 8 million views alone on TikTok. Many viewers got a kick out of the situation.

“Mind your business lady,” wrote one Twitter user. “Oh, baby u wet wet now you will stay off people’s lawns and don’t be worried bout their signs.”

“What a beast. Good for him! These people are way too bossy and out of line for their own good,” wrote another viewer.

“If anyone knows who this man is, buy him a drink from me!” said another. “This is hilariously funny! I can’t stress enough how much of a legend this man is!”
