Taraji P. Henson Set to Launch a New Facebook Watch Talk Show About Mental Health

Taraji P. Henson is taking her advocacy for mental health a step further by launching a new talk show. Henson and her longtime friend Trace Jade Jenkins will be tackling the subject together as the hosts of a new Facebook Watch show called “Peace of Mind with Taraji.”

Henson is using the opportunity to take a deep dive into subjects centering on mental wellness. According to Variety, the show will involve “celebrities, experts and everyday people about mental-health issues, particularly those in the Black community.”

Henson released a statement this week about the project, which said in part, “I’m looking forward to bringing this new talk series to Facebook Watch, where I can continue to create conversation around an issue that is near and dear to my heart.”

Henson has been addressing the importance of mental health for years. In 2018, the actress created an organization called The Boris Lawrence Henson Foundation in honor of her father, who suffered from mental health challenges after returning home from active duty in the Vietnam War. Henson’s friend Jenkins is the executive director of the foundation.

The foundation is used to provide scholarships to students who are pursing a career in mental health, offer mental wellness resources to urban areas and schools, and to “combat recidivism within the prison system.”

Additionally, the talk series will be a part of Facebook’s initiative for World Mental Health Day, which will involve new features and resources pertaining to mental wellness.

Although no word has been given on the show’s premiere date, it has been confirmed that production will begin this year, with 495 Productions as its producer.

Facebook Watch released its own statement about the project, with head of development and programing Mina Lefevre saying, “The work Taraji has done in the mental health space is inspiring, and we’re thrilled to have her come to our platform to educate and entertain around this incredibly important topic.”
