Missouri authorities are on the hunt for a man who allegedly assaulted and shot a Black woman after an argument.
Adam Lee Pillow, 40, of Jefferson County, Missouri, is accused of assaulting April Brown during an altercation in the St. Louis suburb of Arnold, Missouri, on Aug. 7, according to local reports. Brown told news station KDSK she encountered Brown after she got into an argument with her friend’s roommate. She was only there for 10 minutes before Pillow confronted her.
“This white guy came out of nowhere,” Brown recalled. “Looked at me and said four times f-word, N-word, N-word, N-word.”
The altercation took a turn when Pillow pulled a gun and put it against Brown’s friend’s forehead, according to a probable cause statement acquired by KMOX. He switched to Brown and smacked her with the weapon. The impact caused the gun to discharge. Brown suffered graze wounds to her ear and neck.
“I was kind of out of it,” she said. “My hearing at that point was gone. There was blood pouring out the left side of my face, pouring out.”
Pillow fled on foot and has not been seen since. A judge issued a no-bond warrant for his arrest on several charges, including second-degree assault, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon.
Brown was traumatized by the incident, which left her with physical wounds that can only be repaired by plastic surgery.
“I can’t eat at all, not even applesauce,” Brown shared.
She hopes Pillow will be apprehended soon.
“Very scared that he’s still out there,” she added.
Pillow is about 5 feet 11 and approximately 200 pounds, as reported by The St. Louis Post Dispatch. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is encouraged to contact the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
