Soon-to-be mother Nicki Minaj returned to her Instagram page with another reveal. On Thursday, July 30, the rapper shared a video of herself promoting a new single with rapper A$AP Ferg and MadeinTYO titled “Move Ya Hips.” However, fire bars or not, fans were more interested in her new hairdo and growing baby bump.
In the one-minute clip, the 37-year-old Minaj was seen in bed rocking what appeared to be a two-piece multi-colored bathing suit, an iced-out “Queen” chain, and a pair of oversized pink and black sunglasses.
Minaj, who is known for her extravagant wigs, rocked a bright strawberry shortcake-colored hairstyle with a half-up bun and braids on both sides as she lip-synced her verse on the song during the duration of the video. “#MoveYaHips out now [5 strawberry emojis] @asapferg @madeintyo,” the female emcee captioned the clip. The post has already been viewed over 3 million times since its upload.
Fans instantly flooded the star with compliments in the comments section, which was restricted, allowing access to only certain people. “Straight from out of Queens,” one user wrote, adding, “U LOOK BEAUTIFUL QUEEN.”
Celebrity hair guru J. Wright, the stylist behind Minaj’s look, wrote, “Freeennn you look to gooood [heart eyes emoji].” Wright posted a similar video on his page with the caption, “When the King Finally Slays the Queen.” He added, “Baybayyyy, I slayed Nickii with the Bun and Chop Stick.” Meanwhile, a third person commented under Minaj’s video, saying, “It’s the bump & bangs for me… #glowing.”
As previously reported, the “Super Bass” rapper announced on Monday, July 20, that she and husband Kenneth Petty were expecting their first child together. The star shared the news with a set of glam photos on Instagram that showed her baring her baby bump. “#Preggers,” the rapper captioned the gallery of snaps.
During an interview with Complex back in 2014, Minaj admitted that her career had always been the priority in her life, but that could change. She suggested then that she wanted to have a baby before completing her fifth album. “[My biggest fear] is that I’ll become so consumed with work that I’ll forget to live my personal life to the fullest,” Minaj expressed.
She added, “If I’m done with my fifth album and I don’t have a child by then, no matter how much money I have, I would be disappointed as a woman, because I feel like I was put here to be a mother. … I definitely will be married before I have my baby. I want to make sure I do it in that order. I’ve always felt like that since I was young; my mother always put that in my head.”
