‘I Was Today Years Old’: Moniece Slaughter Shocks Folks After She Posts Apparent Residual Check for Singing ‘America’s Next Top Model’ Theme Song

Moniece Slaughter is full of surprises these days — for some folks, at least.

The former “Love and Hip Hop Hollywood” star recently informed folks that she sang the theme song for CW show “America’s Next Top Model” by posting an Instagram screenshot of a supposed residual check.

“More America’s Next Top Model Money,” Slaughter wrote. “‘YOU WANNA BE ON TOP’ My dad is better than yours. My dad got me the gig to sing the theme song for the show fresh outta high school and it still pays the bills thank you daddy.”

Instagram users were shocked by the television personality’s latest post, although she has mentioned this “ANTM” connection previously. One user wrote, “I was today years old when I found out that was moniece 🤣” while another followed up with, “Get them coins sis. Never knew it was you but OKAYY.”

Someone else remarked, “Now that’s what I call a silent bag 💼 never knew 👏🏾.” One person said, “It’s probably a good $19.99 every six months that’s why she ain’t show the number”

Slaughter is the stepdaughter of singer Dave Thomas of gospel group Take6.

She told VH1 in November 2018 that Thomas helped her with her music career and to land the opportunity on “ANTM,” which was hosted by supermodel Tyra Banks from 2003 to April 2018.

Slaughter dropped an album two years ago titled “The Naked Truth,” which was released independently and made the Billboard 200 charts. She thanked her supporters via Instagram for helping her dreams come true.

“Thank you for helping me make a grand entrance into the music world,” she wrote. “Every stream. Every purchase. Every post. I’m so grateful. I love you guys. Every tear. Every sweat bead. Every dollar. They counted me out. They said I couldn’t do it. They said I wouldn’t. And because of you guys. I did. You’re the best!!!!”

Slaughter added that her stepfather helped with the project. “I haven’t been in the studio this consistently in years,” she wrote. “This album is more of a vibe. I actually did work with my dad [on the song ’6th Sense’] and it is the most vulnerable record.”
