Tami Roman officially left VH1’s “Basketball Wives” at the end of season 8, and people assumed it was because she wanted to venture out into acting. Roman, a reality television veteran, seemed pretty adamant about her decision to never return to the franchise after her departure. However, it now looks like Roman has had a change of heart.
The 50-year-old Roman sat with “Married to Medicine” star Dr. Heavenly Kimes for a YouTube Live chat on Friday, May 1. During the conversation, Kimes asked Roman about her experience on “BBW.”
“I liked my time on ‘Basketball Wives.’ I enjoyed it,” she said. “I think that in the past two seasons the dynamic of the show changed for me and it wasn’t fun to go to work,” she added. Roman, a mother of two, hinted that she would return to the show if they removed a few of the cast members.
“The cast changes or the cast additions just wasn’t an environment that I wanted to be in any longer,” she stressed. “If they made cast changes, yeah because I liked it. I liked most of the girls on there, you know. Um.. so..uh..but they’re not asking me and I’m not answering. They’re happy I’m gone and I’m happy to be gone,” she said.
Roman was most likely referring to her friend-turned-foe Evelyn Lozada, who returned to “BBW” in 2017. The iconic duo were friends during season one, but their beef derived in season two when Lozada revealed she slept with Roman’s ex-husband, Kenny Anderson. Roman explained in an interview with Keyshia Cole on her talk show, “One on One with Keyshia Cole,” that she and Lozada will never mend their relationship.
Although Roman may be considering returning to the show later down the road, her fans don’t want her to.
“I love Tami always have. She is as real as they come. I know Basketball Wives is a coin, but she doesn’t need to go back on that show.”
“I enjoyed Tami on Real World & BBW. But I mostly love who she is today.”
“Glad to see her growth…I saw her as a bully when she first started on BBW…all of that negative energy can drain you. I’m glad she has moved on.”
“She got tired of the bull. Sometimes a check is not worth it. Peace of mind 😊… I always like Tami.”
Roman, a native of New York, has dabbled into multiple business endeavors since she quit the show in 2019. She is now starring in “The Family Business” on BET, “Saints & Sinners” on Bounce TV, and her “Bonnet Chronicle” web series on Tidal.
