‘Scary’: DJ Jazzy Jeff Tells Will Smith He Can’t Recall 10 Days of His Life While Fighting COVID-19-Like Symptoms

Will Smith got a chance to chat with his longtime friend DJ Jazzy Jeff and share about a health scare for Jeff that left him with what he believes to be were coronavirus-like symptoms.

The conversation between the two who made up the hip hop duo DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince took place on Smith’s Snapchat show “Will From Home,” which streams on Wednesdays. Jeff said his health started to take a bad turn after he returned home from traveling, and for him 10 consecutive days were nothing more than a blur.

“I got into bed, and I don’t remember the next 10 days,” he said. “I had a temperature that reached 103. I had the chills. I lost a sense of smell. I lost a sense of taste.”

He added that he was only tested for the flu and not COVID-19.

“When I went and got the chest x-ray she came in and said ‘pneumonia in both your lungs,’ ” he recalled.

Smith said he heard the news about Jeff’s condition from Jeff’s wife Lynette, who’s usually calm. But the way she sounded, Smith knew it was a serious situation.

“Yeah, that was scary because Lynette doesn’t panic,” Smith told Jeff. “She called me with the panic vibes.”

Smith then joked that he immediately called D-Nice to see if he could be his DJ, which cracked Jeff up.

“Unfortunately, people think we’re at the end [of the virus], and I think we’re really at the beginning,” Jeff said.

The numbers around the globe of those who’ve tested positive for the virus keep going up, reaching the two million mark as of April 15, according to Johns Hopkins University of Medicine.

More than 138,000 people worldwide have passed away from the disease, with some 28,000 of those deaths in the United States.

A number of celebrities have been infected by the disease too, with Idris Elba being one of the first to reveal his diagnosis.

Also, like Jeff, Meek Mill said he believed he had the virus when he felt sick in December.

“Around christmas time with flu like symptoms… everyday I said to myself a older person cannot survive this!” he tweeted last month. “I lost like 15 pounds and could barely move! I never been that sick.. a doctor never told me what it was.”

Others from the hip-hop community who’ve been infected with the disease include Slim Thug, Scarface, rapper YNW Melly, who’s behind bars, and Fred The Godson, a rapper from the Bronx, NY, who, around the second week of April, was fighting for his life.

Fred’s condition reportedly has improved some since he revealed his diagnosis on April 6. Jeff is also doing better and seems to have made a full recovery.
