Chadwick Boseman’s Video Announcing a $4.2 Million Initiative for Hospitals Derails When Fans Notice His Dramatic Weight Loss

Chadwick Boseman went on Instagram Wednesday to acknowledge Jackie Robinson Day, which takes place each year on April 15. But people paid way more attention to the actor’s appearance.

Boseman also announced something called “Operation 42″ in the video, an initiative that will give $4.2 million worth of protective gear to hospitals in the Black community during the current virus outbreak ravaging the world.

Boseman’s face appeared much thinner than usual in the clip. So much so that many were convinced he’s ill.

“Aww why does he look sick? I hope he’s okay 😖,” read one of the Instagram comments.

While another person wrote, “My God y is he so skinny. I hope he is alright.”

Others said it’s possible the weight loss is tied to a future movie role. There were also some who slammed the people who just focused on his appearance.

“The comments are disrespectful not to mention they donated 4.2 million for hospitals who treat Black people,” someone wrote. “I wouldn’t give a damn how much he lost it’s the good deed that matters.”

Boseman hasn’t responded to the chatter yet, nor have any of his reps.

Meanwhile, the actor has a slew of projects on the horizon, including “Da 5 Bloods,” a Spike Lee film he’ll be starring in with Delroy Lindo. He’ll be joining Viola Davis for a movie adaptation of August Wilson‘s play “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom” as well.

Boseman became a star after playing in films like “42,” which told the story of Jackie Robinson, the first Black player in Major League Baseball. He portrayed James Brown in the movie “Get On Up” on top of that.

But the level of fame after those projects would be nothing compared to what was in store for Boseman after he starred in “Black Panther” as T’Challa and the Black Panther himself.

The sequel to that record-breaking film is due out in 2022.
