‘Pull Through’: Chicago Rapper Lil Reese Reportedly Shot and in Critical Condition

The 26-year-old rapper Lil Reese was shot in a suburb of Chicago on Monday called Country Club Hills, and he’s now in critical condition.

Chicago’s WGN 9 reports that Reese, real name Tavares Taylor, was shot in the neck at 167th Street and Pulaski Road at 2:30 p.m. local time. He was chased by another vehicle from which he was shot at at least 12 times, according to what witnesses heard.

A man then got out of the vehicle and opened fire on Reese with what is described as a small rifle.

By the time police arrived, the rapper was already taken to a hospital and blood was found on the driver’s side seat as well as the ground. Reese was later transferred to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, Illinois.

Shortly after the news of the shooting came to light, Reese’s fellow Chicago rapper Lil Durk tweeted the words “Reese good.” But it wasn’t clear if Durk was merely being hopeful or he has inside information about his friend’s condition.

Reese, who’s an affiliate of Chicago rapper Chief Keef, grew to popularity after being on Keef’s 2012 song “I Don’t Like.”

He then dropped his first mixtape, “Don’t Like,” that same year and was signed to Def Jam along with Durk by producer No I.D., who served as the label’s executive vice president of A&R.

During his career, Reese has worked with people like Drake, Rick Ross, Juelz Santana and Freddie Gibbs.

The Chicago artist is no longer on Def Jam, but on Nov. 7 he dropped a video to his song “Get Back Mood Part 2” off his “GetBackGang 2” mixtape, released back in July.

“Hope you pull through that sh–,” one of Reese’s fans wrote on Twitter.

“Don’t die lil bro. can’t lose you and nipsey in the same year!” wrote someone else under his new music video.
