‘Whaaat?’: Immature’s Romeo Admits Brandy Is the Reason Why He Had to Wear an Eye Patch

It turns out the eye patch that Immature’s Jerome “Romeo” Jones has worn is not all for fashion.

The singer recently explained that there is an actual reason why he needed to wear the accessory for most of his career with the R&B boy band, which was once known as IMx for a time.

“That’s a true story,” he said on “Nick Cannon Mornings” radio show Oct. 30 of the long-standing rumor that singer Brandy is responsible for his eye issue. “Her and [former Immature member] Half Pint had got into it and she had a book in her hand, just tossed it back not thinking I was that close, cut my retina, detached it.

“The lens to my eye had fell out,” Jones continues. “And, actually, Brandon Adams had caught it. He was there. So he was there holding my lens, he didn’t know what was going on. Marq come in and we tryna hide it.”

Marques Houston then explained he saw his bandmate on the bed shouting and not wanting him to know what was happening. He got the group’s manager, Chirs Stokes, who got to the bottom of what had occurred. Then, Rome was rushed to the hospital.

Fans reacted in shock upon hearing Romeo’s supposed confirmation.

“Dang!!! I always wondered why he had the patch😳”

“Omg I never knew this 😔”

“Really? So that’s why he wore that on his eye?”

“Say whaaaaat? Wow @4everbrandy how dare you”

“@satoutside did u know this? I always assumed he just had a lazy eye so just wore an eye patch,” one fan asked a pal.

“It held a grudge against Brandy for years like it was my damn eye lol”

Yet while many fans of the four-member group were unaware of the reason behind Rome’s patch, he’s shared the story before.

The details are in his song, “Look Down at Me” from his debut album, 2004’s “Food for Thought.”

“I remember when Brandy Norwood hit me in my eye / I had a detached retina, my lens came out I had to have tree eye surgeries,” he said on the track. “And she thought we’ll never be cool again / But I put that on my life / I love her to death / And if she hear me talking, I know she can hear the honesty in my voice and my sincerity / But you gotta get up.”

Brandy herself has yet to comment on Jones’ new telling of the story.
