‘I Need You Like Never Before’: Tyler Perry Issues Heartfelt Message to Fans as New Shows Set to Air

Wednesday, Oct. 23, will be a big night for Tyler Perry, because that’s when two of his new shows, “The Oval” and “Sistas,” will air on BET. And during a heartfelt speech, he asked his fans for major support.

The 50-year-old was at a red carpet premiere party at Atlanta’s Southern Exchange on Sunday night, where he was joined by the cast of both shows.

“The Oval” tells the story of the first couple, whose personal lives look nothing like the public image they’ve created for themselves.

Ed Quinn plays the newly elected president, Hunter Franklin, and Kron Moore takes on the role of Victoria Franklin, the first lady. The couple’s children will be played by Paige Hurd and Daniel Croix Henderson.

“Sistas” tells the story of four black female friends from various walks of life, and they all share the common connection of being single, which they bond over.

The series will focus on their love lives, their careers and close friendships with one another.

Both shows are part of the deal Perry signed with BET owner Viacom two years ago. And as a part of it, he’ll also create at least two comedy series, as well as a holiday special that will air live.

Perry is the writer and creator of both new shows, and he’ll also direct. And during the red carpet event, the media mogul didn’t hide the fact that he needs everyone to help him make both series successful.

“It’s my hope and prayer that you all will watch [these shows] and encourage everyone you know to watch these shows, be there with us, for us, through us, be there with BET as we go through this whole new coming together, this whole new transition,” said Perry. “I need you like never before.”

“There’s this new thing they have called Twitter — yes, I’m 50,” he added. “I need you to tweet as much as you can, show your love, talk back to me on Twitter. I want to know about the show.”

“What I’ve found is that on all these years, it’s always been my fans, my audience and the people who are right by my side who have kept me grounded, who have kept me understanding and kept me close so I never forgot. So thank you for that,” Perry also stated.

The Louisiana native also posted some of his speech to his Instagram page, and in the caption he wrote, “I mean this from the bottom of my heart.”

Then, in the comments, Perry’s followers let him know that he has their full support.

“Can’t wait to watch the shows ;). YES!,” one person wrote on Instagram.

“I will I will support ❤️❤️❤️,” wrote another.

“The Oval” airs Wednesday night at 9 p.m. Eastern Time, and “Sistas” comes on immediately afterward at 10 p.m.
