If there were a tombstone for the “Power” character LaKeisha Grant, played by La La Anthony, it would read Oct. 13, 2019, the day Grant was killed off the show.
The person responsible for her character’s death is Tasha St. Patrick, played by Naturi Naughton, and Anthony posted a farewell message on Instagram.
In it, Anthony thanked everyone that she’s worked with on the show, which is currently in its sixth and final season. She also expressed gratitude to “Power’s” creator Courtney Kemp and executive producer 50 Cent.
“SPOILER ALERT‼️Last night was so emotional for me. This was hard to watch😢I want to thank @50cent & @courtneyakemp for giving me the chance to bring LAKEISHA GRANT to life,” wrote Anthony on Monday. “I’m forever grateful to the two of them for believing in me.”
“@naturi4real you are an amazing talent and an amazing friend. Im so glad we took this ride together❤️,” she added.
Naughton also acknowledged Sunday’s episode and wrote a message to Anthony.
“Tonight’s episode was hard to watch!” she wrote. “@lala you have been so amazing to work with and I’ll never forget our journey as #BFFs on this show! ❤️ Lakeisha’s role may have ended on #PowerTV, but you and I will Always Be Friends! I’m so proud of you girl.”
Anthony then directed her words to Joseph Sikora, who played Tommy Egan, her love interest.
“I thank you everyday for the work we did,” she wrote. “You are phenomenal! That final scene, when you walked in and dropped to your knees…WOW. You pushed me to grow as an actor & a person.”
“I was honored to be your KEISHA,” she added. “I’m going to miss working with you so much😢 @omarihardwickofficial & the the rest of the POWER cast and crew my love for all of you runs deep.”
Once Anthony’s post surfaced, her comment section was flooded with fans of the show, whom she also thanked in her message.
“I was in SHOCK!!! You are an AMAZING actress!!! R.I.P. Lakeisha we’ll miss you! You almost made it to the end, BRAVO! 👏🏽🙌🏽❣️😘,” someone wrote.
“This was a hard episode to watch! I really enjoyed you and Tommy’s character,” another person followed.
“Keisha was a real one. @lala you were amazing in this role and were true to character from beginning to end,” a third person commented. “I can’t wait to see where your next journey takes us. Bravo👏🏾.”
Reportedly, Anthony’s journey has landed her in a short titled “The Separatists,” which she lent her voice to. And she’ll also be in the film “Holiday Rush,” which stars Deon Cole and Tamala Jones.
