It looks like “Growing Up Hip Hop: New York” stars William “Flavor Flav” Drayton Jr. of Public Enemy and his eldest daughter Da’Zyna Drayton have a lot of repairing to do on their relationship.
Thursday night’s episode was a tear-jerker after the “Bring the Noise” rapper sat down with his daughter and listened to her explain her apparent child abandonment issues. She claimed her father wasn’t there for her during certain times she needed him to be.
“Growing up was hard,” Da’Zyna told her father. “It was very hard. It was not fun half the time. I had to deal with bullies and fighting. I hit bumps and bruises. You not being there and stuff … it was a lot.”
Despite their fights, the 27-year-old reality TV star said she loves her father and wants him to make more effort to be in her life.
“It would be nice to have you a little bit more involved, for once, and we need to rebuild our communication,” she said.
Flav responded by telling his daughter that he’s only one “phone call away” if she needs him, but Da’Zyna slapped her father’s statement down by saying that he never answers the phone and that she’s always the one calling him.
Things took an even more emotional turn when Drayton revealed to Flav that she was homeless multiple times a few years ago and claimed her father was nowhere to be found.
“Oh I was homeless more than one point in my life,” the aspiring music manager said in her confessional. “This nigga was in Vegas living his life. Living in a nice-ass house. That s–t was hard as f–k.”
Flav began getting emotional hearing his daughter explain how she felt. He then burst into tears after his daughter conveyed that she felt alone in the world.
“When I’m struggling, when I’m down and out, when I’m depressed … nobody in this world got me. Not you, nobody,” Da’Zyna added. “When I’m at my darkest days, I’m by myself.”
“GUHHNY” viewers felt for Da’Zyna and urged Flav to step up to the plate and be a part of his daughter’s life.
“She dont need ur tears she need ur help🤦 Dads says all the right things their daughter wants to hear but there’s no action to back up their words.”
“Less talk more actions. It always hurts my heart seeing a daughter tell their father their hurt and want them to be more involved.”
Others prayed the two would work on their relationship.
“At least he is listening, seems like he u understands too. I hope their relationship gets better.”
“I pray for they relationship 🙏🏾 never noticed how much she looks like him. Yea Boi!💕”
