It looks like “How to Lose a Husband” author Toya Wright received a mass of backlash over the weekend for her parenting choices regarding her 1-year-old daughter Reign Rushing.
The mother of two took to Instagram on Sunday morning and posted a video of the toddler inside their toilet. She and her rumored fiancé Robert “Red” Rushing were apparently potty training their daughter, and instead of the 1-year-old sitting atop of her potty seat, she seemingly decided to get inside the toilet.
“Who told you to get in there,” Wright asked to her toddler, who replied, “Daddy.”
“I can’t 😩🤦🏽♀️,” the television personality wrote. ” #sheblameditonherdaddy #pottytraininggonewrong #dothislooklikeapool #ithoughtuhadtobe2tobeterrible 🤷🏽♀️.”
Wright’s video of baby Reign racked up over 1.4 million views, but it also received a wide range of criticism.
“This ain’t cute this is nasty!! 🤔 why would you record the moment and not instantly get her out the toilet. Anything for social media I swear”
“That’s disgusting I’m sorry 😷Where are the toilet locks? Ain’t nothing cute about this situation put the phone down sis”
“Ohhhhhh noooooo 😢 that baby in this germ infected toilet is horrible! Get the baby and stop recording. This ain’t cool at all”
Several other felt Wright shouldn’t have recorded the moment, but instead of pulled her toddler out of the toilet as soon as possible.
However, in her comment section, the 36-year-old star hit back at a naysayer who accused her of putting Reign in the toilet for the sake of a video.
“Who the hell would do some s–t like that??? Nobody in this house would. She’s potty training. Instead of getting on her potty she decided to get in ours 😩.”
Wright welcomed her daughter into the world in February 2018 with her companion Robert Rushing. She’s also the mother of 20-year-old Reginae Carter, whose father is rapper Lil Wayne.
During an interview with Cosmopolitan in a December 2017 article, the mother of two admitted she was extremely protective of her children. Although it’s seemingly impossible to do so, she claims she tries her best to protect them from social media trolls.
“I honestly don’t pay attention to the haters,” she told Cosmopolitan, a few months before the birth of Reign. “UNLESS, someone says something about my daughter, and then Mama Bear kicks in. I don’t care what people say about me, but kids are off limits.”
Despite the negative remarks Wright received on Reign’s “potty training” video, she was also showered with a mass of support.
“Too cute!!! Kids are the funniest of all!🤣😍 I don’t know why babies love toilets 😩😂! and for the trolls y’all sound crazy! all she got to do is give the child a bath damn smh”
“Lmao… she’s too much 😂 the things babies do!!! and then tried to blame her daddy 🤣. I swear these people in the comments are so miserable and take the fun out of everything”
