It’ll be a couple of weeks before fans can watch “Black Girls Rock” on air Sept. 8, but Ciara recently delighted her Instagram followers by showing them the glamorous look she donned at the annual event.
The “Thinkin Bout You” singer attended the award show, which commemorates Black women in various fields, on Sunday, August 25. Ciara, who accepted the Rock Star Award at the Niecy Nash-hosted ceremony, elected to wear a couture floor-length sequined cold-shoulder gown by Zuhair Murad from the spring/summer 2019 collection, Pop Sugar reported.
Ciara’s hair was styled in a long bob that hit just past her armpits with bumped ends and hairpins on each side of her middle part. Ciara’ makeup consisted of a thick ring of eyeliner and a nude lip and light blush with no accessories, firmly keeping the focus on her eye-catching ensemble.
The look left fans raving, specifically since the eye makeup recalled a certain Egyptian pharaoh.
“You look like Cleopatra very beautiful and elegant.”
“Modern Cleopatra 👑”
“You should be Cleopatra in a movie 👑👑👑👑👑❤️”
“You are absolutely beautiful Ciara… I love everything about this look! YOU ARE OWNING THIS LOOK QUEEN!!! Love, xoxox.”
“My Lord! The beauty is OUTRAGEOUS!!”
“Ciara this is you, Queen. This is a beautiful classy look. You are a classy lady. FYI, I love your vocals in the song Paint It Black. You have a great voice. Blessings to you, Russell and the babes. ⬆️⬆️⬆️⬆️.”
The praise Ciara has garnered for this look is a far cry from the strongly negative response she got from a fan when she wore an outfit that was straight from the 1990s. Red overalls over a black turtleneck with an oversized hat and circle sunglasses had most fans singing CiCi’s praises. But one was absolutely not here for it.
“That hat is the dumbest thing I have ever seen. Fire your stylist!” they demanded of the singer.
The response is not typically one that Ciara receives for her style choices. In fact, in June, the star was the recipient of the Style Icon Award at the 2019 ACE Awards.
“You have to know who you are when it comes to fashion and expressing yourself as an artist because that’s a huge part how people remember you,” she said to Footwear News at the annual event celebrating excellence in fashion. “You want there to be a visual when they think of you.”
