Although R&B singer Ashanti and ex-boyfriend rapper Nelly have been broken up for years, fans are still holding on to their past relationship.
The “Foolish” singer has been on a roll with posting sexy and tantalizing photos of herself, clearly sparking thirsty fan remarks. Some of those remarks mentioned her breakup with the “Country Grammar” rapper.
Ashanti took to Instagram on Monday with a glamorous photo of herself at VH1’s “Dear Mama: A Love Letter to Moms” which premiered on May 6. In the image, she sported a pink, shaggy, minidress from House Of Cyndarella with a pair of bedazzled heels. She completed the look with her bronzed tresses and struck a fierce post for the camera, serving face.
In her caption she urged fans to tune into her performance, adding in a separate post “What an incredible moment… this means more to me than most people would understand š.”
A slew of fans gawked over the 38-year-old’s beauty, adding that they didn’t understand how Nelly apparently let her “get away.”
“Nelly was a fool to let you go š!”
“Don’t know how Nelly gave that up!! She bad bro!’
“Nelly’s a fool to lose you lol slay on the h-es ā¤ļø.”
Ashanti and Nelly were an item for nine years, but their relationship came to an end in 2012. It was rumored the St. Louis native cheated on her with multiple women.
During her interview on the “Meredith Vieira Show” in 2015, Ashanti indicated that she’d been betrayed by the rapper.
“I think sometimes when people have their own insecurities it allows them to act out of character. I’ve been betrayed,” Ashanti said. “Again, you just have to grow. You have to grow up and accept responsibilities for the things that you do. I’m not a big fan of people being cowards. I think itās really important to know yourself and understand what you want and get it. Iām in a different place right now.”
Although there’s no apparent beef between the former flames, Ashanti was caught seemingly shading the rapper onstage last year. Before she performed her song “The Woman You Love,” a fan yelled out “F–k Nelly!” and the singer second that motion and responded, “Word.”
