“Growing Up Hip Hop” star Angela Simmons is living proof that motherhood isn’t always as glamorous as it’s cracked up to be.
Over the weekend, the reality star posted a photo of herself and her son Sutton Joseph from the Easter holiday, and, judging by the image, Simmons may have been on the verge of having a serious mom meltdown.
In the image, 2-year-old SJ appeared to be in tears while the 31-year-old mother posed for the camera with a serious mug on her face. She told fans that her and her toddler had a minor squabble about what he was going to wear for Easter. He apparently wanted to wear a yellow vest over his brown cardigan and pants set with a pair of sneakers that didn’t fit his feet.
Simmons clearly wasn’t feeling her son’s fashion choices and tried to convince him to put on a different set of shoes that actually fit his feet. Needless to say, all chaos apparently broke loose.
“Ooo Happy Easter 😫 He was in his incredible 2’s mood today,” Simmons wrote in her Instagram caption on Sunday. “Here’s our Easter picture lol . #RealLifeMomMode … ooo yea and he picked out his vest and yellow shoes he had on that didn’t fit. At least an hour to convince him to put on white chucks 😁.”
Fans of the celeb could relate and commended her for showing the truth about motherhood.
“Real mom pic I 💙 it!! I remember them days 😂 thank you for showing this! Being a mom isn’t always fun but we love our little ones.”
“You’re face is an entire mood 😂 Life of a mother…these are precious moments he was so mad 😟😂.”
“This is a real mom pic! I can relate! Lol, cute & frustrating 😊 Don’t worry all of us mother have at least one of these moments Angela. Thank you for showing the truth about being a mom.”
“😭 #mommoments lol when all you wanna do is get through the day but the kid had other plans 🤦🏽♀️ this what being a real mother looks like.”
Simmons, the daughter of DJ Rev Run, welcomed her son SJ in September 2016 with her ex-fiancé Sutton Tennyson, who was shot to death in November 2018.
Although Simmons and Tennyson called off their engagement in December 2017, the two were still co-parenting their son despite their ongoing battle in court. In October, a few days before the 37-year-old’s death, the pair descended into a heated child support fight. Page Six, citing an unnamed source, reported last November that Simmons wanted more than $1,250 a month in child support. She also had received temporary custody of their child at the time due to an order of protection, claiming domestic violence against her ex-fiancé.
Although the “GUHH” star and Tennyson were in a legal dispute at the time of his passing, Simmons still mourned her former partner’s death.
Thank you for leaving behind my greatest gift,” the star wrote on Instagram Nov. 4 along with a photo of herself, Tennyson and their son. “I promise to hold SJ down in every way I promise,” she concluded, adding a heart emoji.
