Tennis star Naomi Osaka just earned the achievement of being named one of Time magazine’s 100 most influential people, but a day earlier, she was simply catching up with YBN Cordae, who appears to be her boyfriend.
Fans, however, are not here for it.
The 21-year-old athlete uploaded a video to her Instagram page April 16 of her standing near her rapper beau while he posed in the mirror.
“Yo, you’re so clumsy! It’s ridiculous,” Osaka says after her apparent boyfriend, also 21-years-old, drops something as he looks in the mirror wearing sunglasses with a hoodie over his head.
“Can’t take this guy anywhereeeee lol 💀😩😂🤗❤️” she added playfully in the caption.
Osaka, who in January became the youngest woman in nine years to debut at No. 1 in the tennis rankings, seems to have recently begun dating Cordae, as indicated by the emoji accompanying her caption.
Yet fans think the tennis pro should focus on her career as she recently didn’t fare very well in the Sunshine Double, losing in the fourth round at Indian Wells and the third round in Miami.
‘You at the top of your sport lol you don’t need to be with SoundCloud rappers but ok.”
“Like the old women say, ‘that boy only gone slow you down, you got all the time in the world for that…’ Take heed yougin!”
“NO Naomi!! NO!”
“Focus on winning, sis. These young rappers gonna leave you bald, stressed, and missing all the balls.”
“No sis he’s not it. Just focus on your craft. Lord please let her continue to think for herself and not get caught up in his world.”
Osaka initially caught the attention of the wider public when she faced off against Serena Williams at the Miami Open last spring and beat the 23-time Grand Slam winner, who is also her idol. Since then, the star has continued to make a name for herself. In addition to her achievement at the top of the year, Osaka is also apparently the first player of Haitian descent
— man or woman — to reach the top spot of the tennis rankings.
The star was also honored as part of Barbie’s “Sheroes” collection with a doll created in her likeness in March. It came just in time for Women’s History Month.
