If there are any two people considered an “It couple,” it’s Ciara and Russell Wilson. Because almost weekly, the couple posts cute family photos and videos that people seem to use for their own relationship goals.
The singer and NFL quarterback got married in July of 2016, one year after they went on their first date, which wasn’t too long after Ciara split with the rapper Future, the father of her son.
Before Ciara and Wilson jumped the broom, they decided not to jump in bed together due to their Christian faith and abstained from sex until they exchanged vows. It’s something the “Level Up” creator briefly touched on in a newly released interview.
“That took a lot of prayer. It was hard. I can’t lie,” she told InStyle.
The interview wasn’t the first time Ciara spoke about avoiding premarital sex, she also addressed it when she and Wilson were still dating.
And around that same time, Future was asked about his sex life with Ciara when they were together, and his answer caused a lot of controversy.
“God told me something else. He ain’t tell me to wait,” said Future in 2015 during an interview with HuffPost Live. “I guarantee you that. We prayed afterwards, though. After we did it, we prayed. That’s a true story.”
Future caught a lot of heat after that, especially since there was a rumor that he cheated on Ciara and caused their split.
The “Goodies” singer didn’t address the rumor in her interview, but she suggested that Future caused her a lot of pain.
“If you want to get somewhere in life, you’ve got to have a compass,” she explained. “You’ve got to know where you really want to get to. And my heart, soul, spirit, and mind just desired to be loved. To be truly loved the right way … I knew I didn’t want to cry tears of hurt anymore. I didn’t want to keep going around in circles.”
Ciara and Wilson’s daughter Sienna Princess Wilson will be 2 years old in April, and Future Zahir Wilburn, her son with Future, is 4, but she still wants more children in the years to come.
“I want to have as many kids as I can,” the 33-year-old explained. “My kids keep me young. They keep me active. They give me purpose. They just make it all make sense.”
