Hot Mama: Angela Simmons Sparks Hilarious Debate in Comments with ‘Mom Jeans’ Post

Growing Up Hip Hop” actress Angela Simmons drew a slew of mixed reactions with a recent picture of herself rocking a pair of mom jeans.

The fashion term was coined somewhere between the late 1980s and early 1990s to describe high-waisted jeans worn by unhip middle-aged women. However, the style made a comeback in the mid-2000s, and Simmons seemingly considers them a fashion trend.

The 31-year-old mother took to Instagram on Tuesday evening and shared a three-picture collage of herself sporting a vintage look. She donned a sheer mustard-colored crop-top, a light denim jacket with gold fringes, light-washed denim distressed mom jeans, and a pair of nude pumps to complete the look.

Simmons appeared to model her outfit inside a period-design hotel room and opted for a conventional smoky-eye makeup look. She captioned her the image, “Mom Jeans 👖.”

The eccentric photos of the 31-year-old sparked a hilarious back-and-forth conversation among fans in the comments who coined Simmons’ jeans another term.

“Dem ain’t no mom jeans,” one fan declared. “Those are MILF jeans 💩😂.”

“Um those aren’t mom jeans,” another added. “Those are wife jeans @angelasimmons đŸ˜©.”

“Those can’t be mom jeans cause my mama bet not 😂,” another fan joked. “I want to see what the Grandma jeans hitting for!”

Simmons, the daughter of DJ Rev Run, got her start in the fashion industry in 2007 after she and her older sister Vanessa Simmons decided to create their Pastry shoe line. The collection offered vibrant and bright patterns that became quite popular among fans and Hollywood celebrities. She later parted ways from the company and decided to focus on her personal fashion interests.

In May 2018, she collaborated with swimwear retailer Swimsuits For All for their “Power Suit Campaign,” which is intended to flatter women of all different shapes and sizes.

“The whole concept and campaign is that whatever you put on is your ‘power suit,'” Simmons told BET at the time. “What is so powerful about these particular swimsuits is that the whole motto is they’re embracing curves and who they are. It doesn’t matter if you’re curvy, if you don’t have curves, whatever it is.
For me, overall, every day what you put on is your ‘power suit.'”

Simmons revealed that she once suffered from low-self esteem but eventually learned to love her body.

“I think that it is important for people to just love where they’re at and who they are at that moment,” she added. ” If your body is feeling strange, embrace that and love that too. It doesn’t matter if you have curves or don’t have curves.”
