Former “Growing Up Hip Hop: Atlanta” star Reginae Carter gave a special shoutout to one of the most important men in her life, her father Lil Wayne.
Carter is the five-time Grammy Award-winning rapper’s firstborn child, and the two appear to be thick as thieves. Although the 20-year-old allegedly has called it quits with rapper YFN Lucci, her father seemingly managed to put a smile on her face for Valentine’s Day.
The “GUHHATL” alum took to Instagram on Feb. 14 and shared a series of photos that her father gifted her, including a vase of mixed flowers, two boxes of chocolates, and a sweet card that read, “Happy Valentine’s Day!! I love you! Dad.”
Carter who seemed elated to receive thoughtful presents from her father, shamed critics who’ve spoken ill of the rapper in the past by writing in her caption, “People can say what they want about you but you set the tone and bar high asf for these dudes out here.”
She continued, “I love you daddy ❤️#hedoesthiseveryyear #myfirstlove #happyVDay.”
Fans of Carter gushed over how much her dad “spoils” her.
“Awwwhhh That’s why I love Wayne,” one person said. “Great Artist and a Wonderful Dad 😍💞.”
“@colormenae you’ll always be daddy’s little girl and he’ll always spoils you.❤️Ain’t Nothing Like Having a GREAT DADDY❤️….I love Wayne, Heart Is Pure,” a second fan added.
“You are so blessed and you have a great father!!! Show em how it’s done❤️. He will truly & always will be her first love & protector! 😍😭.”
Carter, who is the daughter of Lil Wayne and his ex-wife Toya Wright, regularly receives gifts from her father. In October 2018, the 20-year-old said the greatest gift Lil Wayne ever gave her was a track on his “Carter V” album that dropped last year.
“That was really big because I’ve been wanting to do a song with my father for so long,” Carter told Page Six. “Like I would always say, ‘Dad, we could be the new Nat King Cole! He did stuff with his daughter!’ I’ve always said that to him, so for him to put ‘Famous’ on the album and it get such a good outlook like everybody loved it on the Billboard charts, that really just made my whole entire life.”
The former “GUHHATL” cast member mentioned that it hasn’t been easy being the daughter of a hip-hop icon. She’s dealt with friends and people who’ve had ill intentions toward her and her family.
“I’ve had people that come in my life that’s been around for so long and I found out that their intentions wasn’t right,” she further explained to Page Six. “They stole from me. They lied on me. I’ve had all of that. At a young age, it’s crazy that I’ve dealt with so much already. But yes, I’ve dealt with all of it.”
