“Growing Up Hip Hop” actress Angela Simmons tried sharing some words of encouragement to fans for “lovers day,” but it was trampled by folks who shared their own advice.
Simmons, who appears to be single and not dating anyone at the moment, shared a video uplifting single folks on Valentine’s Day. She encouraged fans to celebrate the holiday with self-care.
“I know it’s Valentine’s Day and I know a lot of people feel it’s important to have a significant other, but more than anything it’s really important that you are giving yourself self-love,” Simmons says in her video.
She continued, “If you have a man kudos, have a good time but don’t feel pressured to feel like you have to have somebody. … Do you. Love on yourself and be your best self.”
The 31-year-old mother also warned folks against having relationship expectations and deemed them as “dream killers.” She urged folks to enjoy Feb. 14 whether they were single or not.
“Get up, get dressed , go out with your girlfriends if you aren’t in a relationship,” Simmons wrote in her video caption. “Whatever it is … Do you.”
The reality star’s counsel was genuinely received by fans, but they appeared to have a few words of advice of their own.
One fan wrote, “I hear you but momma ain’t nothing like a boo, and you deserve to be booed up 😘🌹!”
Another added, “💯 show love everyday. Expectations is validation killers for insecure people.”
“I agree love yourself but sis you need to give Romeo a chance😘 ,” a third fan commented.
Fans have been rooting for Simmons to make her friendship with Romeo Miller into an official relationship. The pair have been friends for quite a while and confessed to having romantic feelings for each other, but they decided to keep things platonic.
Miller told Page Six in December that he plans on taking things slow with Simmons due to the death of her ex-fiancé Sutton Tennyson in November, not wanting to exploit her grief.
“We’re good friends and we got good chemistry, but I am also about respect,” the “My Crush” rapper said. “She lost somebody, and she definitely got to grieve. I am not a dude to take advantage of that. We cool though. That is one of my good friends. I think people just want to see people like that together in general. But you can’t rush that — whatever happens happens.”
