Mo’Nique Said to Have Nearly Gotten Physical with Steve Harvey During Upcoming Appearance on His Talk Show

As she makes the press rounds to promote nabbing her Las Vegas residency, Mo’Nique has reportedly hit a serious snag.

The comedian is said to have almost gotten into a physical altercation with her brother in comedy Steve Harvey during the taping of an appearance on his talk show. According to the Jasmine Brand, a discussion about Mo’s remarks about Whoopi Goldberg on “Steve” got so heated that the “Almost Christmas” star was about to go toe-to-toe with Harvey.

In an interview with Vulture published Jan. 24, Mo discussed her heated chat with Goldberg on “The View.” On the program last year, Goldberg said she would have “schooled” Mo’Nique on how she should have shown up to promote her 2009 film “Precious” because Mo was contractually obligated to do so, regardless of pay.

“When I look at this woman you say is our icon and our legend — she is. But, how many things has Whoopi Goldberg executive produced?” Mo’Nique said. “Whoopi Goldberg has always been the help, and I say that humbly. So what is it that you’re going to school me on? I’ve been doing it for almost 30 years.”

Although Harvey’s chat this week with Mo’Nique is said to have addressed her controversial statements about Tyler PerryLee Daniels and Oprah Winfrey, Mo’Nique became upset when the “Steve” host allegedly said she needed to apologize to Goldberg.

“She threatened to hit Steve in the face. He told her [if] she hit him, her husband would have to come out and square off,” a source reportedly disclosed to the celebrity gossip site Thursday, Jan. 31. No other details about the supposed spat have been revealed.

The tense discussion was reportedly caught on camera, but the site’s insider did not state whetherit will air. Meanwhile, the episode is said to be airing in the next two weeks.

A day before the report emerged, Mo’Nique appeared on E!’s “Daily Pop” to explain her comments about Goldberg being “the help.”

“I’m in a good place with everybody,” she said Wednesday, Jan. 30. “People are now offended by the truth. And when people say ‘Mo’Nique dropping shade, she spilling tea.’ I’m 51 damn years old, baby. I’m too damn old to be dropping shade and spilling tea. I’m too old for that.”

“When people think Whoopi Goldberg and I are in a bad place, we’re not. That’s my sister,” she continues. “But when she makes a statement like, ‘I could’ve schooled you.’ Well, what you were trying to school me on is how to work for free, and that’s what I’m not willing to do … There’s no beef, I simply said what it was.”

Like her remarks about Goldberg, Mo’Nique previously spent much of 2017 explaining why she has an issue with Perry, Winfrey and Daniels. She accused all three of blackballing her in Hollywood, where she developed a reputation of being difficult to work with.
