Award-winning singer K. Michelle reposted an old interview of herself demanding folks to put some “respect” on her name.
The 34-year-old took to her Instagram page and shared an old clip of her interview with V-103 Atlanta radio host Big Tigger in April 2017. In the video, she boasted about how gifted she is musically.
“I get looked over or people try to play with me, but musically you can’t play with me,” the artist said. “You can’t beat me in that.”
K. Michelle who not only sings, but writes music too, indicated to Big Tigger that people tend to overlook her multi-talents due to her strong personality. She admitted that sometimes she does have diarrhea at the mouth and her blunt personality can get in her trouble.
“Music you can’t beat me. A lot of stuff I need to learn how to do, maybe shutup and stuff like that, but when it comes to the music, no, I got it.”
The “Crazy Like Me” singer went on to say that she was “tired” of seemingly competing with artists who don’t match her vocally.
“I tired of playing with these girls,” K. Michelle said. “I am, they not, singing.”
K. Michelle wrote in her video caption, “🖕🏼💅🏾 Truth Teller.”
Fans chimed in underneath the star’s video and agreed that she has “true music talent.”
“She ain’t lying musically she got it she one of the few tht can sang sang 🔥♥️🙏🏽,” one person wrote.
Another added, “This is why I Love you so. @kmichellemusic ❤️Lyrically and Musically your a beast, YOU know this, I know this, but they gon learn today.. Period.”
A third fan said, “They not singing“ took me clean out but she is staying the truth 💖. No argument here.”
The 34-year-old has always been vocal about the minimum recognition she seemingly receives in music. In 2013, K. Michelle blasted the Grammys for snubbing her a nomination. She felt her album at the time “Rebellious Soul” was worthy of a Grammy nomination.

“Wow major Grammy snub. I guess a little Black girl who truly speaks her mind was a little 2much huh? Gotta work harder next year,” she wrote on Twitter. She was upset that she wasn’t nominated for any category, including “Best New Artist.” She later doubled down on her statement by saying, “It wasn’t my time. Can’t change my music 2fit.”
K. Michelle is currently in the studio recording her new music project. She told fans in a Twitter post that a new single from project would be released in February.
