Things have been tough for Michelle Williams as of late. But the singer is not sitting around feeling sorry for herself. Instead, she’s making it clear she’s the one who’s calling the shots in her life.
The former Destiny’s Child star has been in the headlines lately for calling off her eight-month-long engagement to pastor Chad Johnson earlier this month. Just last week, news also emerged that she quit work on the Broadway play “Once On This Island” on doctor’s orders. Reportedly, she’s been in a dark place with her ongoing depression battle.
“Effective immediately, Michelle T. Williams has been advised by her medical doctors to take a leave of absence from performing,” a representative for the show said in a statement to Radar Online Dec. 12. “As a result, the singer/actress will not continue in the Tony Award-winning Broadway production of ‘Once On This Island.’”
Much like she did with Johnson, the star has since removed any mentions of the play in which she played a goddess Erzulie from her Instagram page.
“I’m in control of my happiness. Regardless of the trials and tribulations that life may bring we all have a purpose. 💫” the “Fearless” singer said in a caption of her Dec. 17 post on the photo-sharing social networking site.
Williams’ memo hit home with fans and many continued to rally behind her in the comments section.
