Shaquille O’Neal was approached by a fan who confused him for Charles Barkley. O’Neal wasn’t a snob about the mix-up, he actually thought it was pretty humorous.
O’Neal has taken two weeks off from his hosting gig for NBA TNT to tend to his son Shareef who had heart surgery December 14. It’s unclear where O’Neal was in the video when he encountered the fan. But the fan was convinced he was Barkley even after someone told her that he wasn’t.
“He is not Charles Barkley.”
The fan responded, “Yes you are, you are!”
While laughing O’Neal asked, “Who am I?”
The fan said, “You are Charles Barkley, yes I know.”
O’Neal begins to laugh more, and the fan explained how she knows that he is Charles Barkley. “No? My daughter is a fan. We are big fans.”
After a brief exchange, they finally convinced the woman and she said, “Oh yes! Not Charles Barkley, Shaquille O’Neal.”
The sports anchor shared the video to his Instagram on Thursday. In his caption, he wrote, “She thought I was my main man CHARLES BARKLEY.”
The whole conversation had people rolling in the comments.
“Charles Barkley 😊”
“🤣🤣🤣 I love her! She’s so freakin funny🤣🤣🤣”
“That’s amazingly funny hahaha”
“Tell her you have rings !!! That’s disrespectful”
“@shaq the disrespect 😂😂😂😂”
This laugh is much needed for this NBA star especially since his son Shareef O’Neal is now recovering from a heart procedure. According to ESPN, doctors discovered an ailment in Shareef’s heart. After the surgery Shareef let is fans know via Twitter he’s doing good. “I made it, Thank you for all the love and support! I really appreciate all your thoughts and prayers, that’s what helped me through this surgery. I’m on the road to recovery, and I’ll be back soon…better than ever.”
