Ronnie and Shamari DeVoe’s Money Woes Come to Light Following Expensive Birthday Party

Shamari DeVoe and husband Ronnie DeVoe are said to be in some trouble with Uncle Sam.

The newest stars of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” are reportedly behind on their tax payments to the tune of $367,000 according to documents obtained from the Federal Tax Lien Department of the Treasury by Radar Online Wednesday, Dec. 5.

The lien was assessed for the New Edition singer five years ago on November 25, 2013.

“It appears to still be open and active and will stay this way until 12/25/2023 unless the IRS files a continuation,” Ellen Rodgers, the Real Estate Lien Clerk in the Real Estate Division from the Cobb County Superior Court told Radar Online.

Currently, the DeVoes reside in a five-bedroom, five bathroom home in Mableton, Ga., about 15 miles west of Atlanta. Shamari bought the 5,025 square foot home, which was built in 1997, back in February of this year. The brick home was purchased for around $535,000, public records show.

The news of the celebrity couple’s hefty lien comes after an RHOA episode aired last month showing Shamari dropping $900 on two birthday cakes for her twin sons’ first birthday party.

But the IRS beckoning now wouldn’t be the first time Ronnie has faced money trouble. When he was coming up in the business with NE and throughout the years since then, the group notoriously dealt with financial woes despite achieving mass popularity in the 1980s.

“Being in the business for as long as we have, we have experienced that every record is not always a hit; every tour is not always a sellout,” NE and Bell Biv DeVoe member Ricky Bell explained on “Sister Circle” in May. “Sometimes you have dry seasons. So with that in mind, it’s definitely a smart idea to have [a lot of] revenue streams.”

The DeVoes are currently starring on RHOA, from which only Shamari gets a check as a housewife but the pair is also readying to release music as a husband and wife duo under the moniker Me & Mari.
