Nearly one month after Angela Simmons lost the father of her son in a shooting, her brother JoJo Simmons has stepped up to play a father-like role in her son’s life.
Simmons’ ex-fiancé, Sutton Tennyson, was shot and killed in the driveway of his Atlanta home on Nov. 3, leaving behind the 2-year-old he shared with the “Growing Up Hip Hop” star.
Wanting to help his nephew, SJ, get a haircut, JoJo took the toddler to get a trim on Wednesday, Nov. 28.
“Took my nephew to the shop today. We gon do this every 2 weeks✂️💈 Outfit: @fashionnovamen,” JoJo captioned his post of the bonding time with SJ.
Many online applauded how the oldest son of Rev. Run stepped in to help his nephew.
“Awesome uncle💕💕💕💕💕”
“Aw Unc JoJo.”
“F.O.E. Family over everything. 👑👑”
“Great brother and awesome Uncle!”
“What an awesome Uncle!🌹🌹🌹”
“🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 blessed young man.”
Tennyson and Angela were engaged to be married in April 2016 after they learned the reality TV star was expecting a baby. But by the end of 2017, Angela called off the engagement.
The pair continued to co-parent Sutton Jr. but Sutton Sr.’s death rocked Angela to the core.
“I’m hurting. I’m …numb. I cant believe I’m even saying Rest In Peace Sutton. I promise to hold SJ down in every way I promise, ❣️” she wrote on Instagram after learning of Sutton’s death.
Not long after the news broke, the man suspected of shooting and killing Tennyson after an argument turned himself in to police. Michael Williams has denied being responsible and he was charged with charged murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
In a Nov. 20 preliminary hearing, Williams was denied bond, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
