Kandi Burruss revealed earlier this month that she will be expanding her family through a surrogate and now she explains her reasoning.
On the Nov. 25 episode of Real Housewives of Atlanta, Burruss opened up about her complications from her previous pregnancy. Burruss told OBGYN Dr. Jackie Walters about her fibroids complication while she was pregnant with her son Ace Tucker. She spoke about having to get the fibroids removed but still feeling like there was still some left after she gave birth. “I know there was still some fibroids after pregnancy. I feel like it got worse because Ace is two now and nothing’s happening,” she said.
She went on to explain that she felt if she got pregnant again, the same sort of risky complications would happen again. “[I had] a couple of scares during my pregnancy with Ace. I was a high risk and I did have bleeding a few times.” She continued, “So my womb is just, it’s not the best place to have a healthy pregnancy with no issues,” she said.
The couple expressed to Dr. Jackie that they have two embryos left and they want to use them both. “I only want to do it if we can do them both. I don’t want to leave anybody behind,” Todd exclaimed.
Dr. Jackie expressed to them the cost associated with two surrogates and the couple seemed to still be interested.
Burruss expressed that she wants to be very hands-on and active with the surrogacy. “I want to be able to know about all the checkups.”
On Nov. 5 in an interview with US Weekly, Burruss announced that she will be using a surrogate for the new addition to her family. “We decided we want to get a surrogate.” She continued, “I guess we’re not taping anymore so I guess I can tell you that we did find someone, and right now we are in the process — you know it hasn’t been done — but we’re in the process.”
