Matt Barnes really hooked up his two boys for their 10th birthday, and he did it by organizing a private basketball workout with none other than Kobe Bryant. Barnes and Kobe played together on the Los Angeles Lakers from 2010-2012, and they’re obviously friends.
Barnes decided to record the big birthday gift but he kept it all a surprise. He also said the twins meeting Kobe was just the last phase of their present, so it’s clear they did pretty well at the end of it all.
In one part of the clip, he films himself and the twins on their way to Orange County, Calif. where The Black Mamba awaits.
Plus, all along the way, Barnes gives his boys little hints about the gift. In fact, he talked about it so much, they could’ve easily figured out the whole thing or at least come close. Especially since they both had their basketball clothes on and got a little suspicious.
After that, they finally arrive at the gym and see Kobe sitting there, who tells them how big they’ve gotten. The boys play it cool for the most part but admit to being surprised.
All of this comes after Barnes was awarded physical and legal custody of the twins in a nasty custody dispute against his ex-wife Gloria Govan. The judge ruled that Govan will have the boys every other weekend and get to have dinner with them every Wednesday night. She’s yet to comment on the new arrangement
