So the verdict is in. Erykah Badu is not pregnant, and she took to Twitter to let everyone know.
Rumors swirled after the legendary soul singer posted a video of herself dancing to song titled “Messy” written by Ishmael Butler of Digable Planets. Badu also rubbed her belly a couple of times in the clip, which led people to believe that she and Ish were expecting.
But not only did the “Window Seat” singer say the rumors were false, she wondered why people keep saying she’s pregnant.
“Fam, chill,” wrote Badu. “Ain’t nobody shoot up the club, ok? Why I got to be pregnant every holiday season? Just stop. Y’all trying to say I’m fat? Y’all say this sh– every fall. I just be a little hungrier than usual come late October. Now y’all got us in here arguing over baby names.”
Before Badu shot down the rumor, people also went on Butler’s page to figure out if he’d be a new dad or not. Some congratulated him, others said they’d pray for a healthy child and at least one person said they hope Badu has a girl.
Meanwhile, back on Badu’s page, people responded to the baby news being false and gave theories on how the rumor spread so quickly.
“We just miss you, so we make sh– up. That’s all,” someone wrote.
“Everybody from Dallas gain weight when the fair comes around,” a second person tweeted.
From here, we’ll have to see if Butler joins the discussion at all.
