Meghan McCain ‘Interjects’ to Call Out Black Election Official the GOP Is Accusing of Voter Fraud, Sunny Quickly Checks Her

The View” co-host Sunny Hostin wasted no time fact-checking Meghan McCain‘s claims against Florida election official Brenda Snipes, who she argued has a history of violations and misconduct.

The results of Florida’s gubernatorial and Senate races are still up in the air as a number of provisional ballots still haven’t been counted. On Monday, President Donald Trump ripped into the state for launching an official recount of the Election Day votes and claimed, “large numbers of new ballots have showed up out of nowhere, and many ballots are missing or forged.”

McCain also had her suspicions and suggested that Broward County’s supervisor of elections shouldn’t be trusted.

“Every vote should, 100 percent, take the time to be counted, obviously,” McCain, 33, began. “But Brenda Snipes is the woman in charge, supervisor in Broward County, which is where a lot of this has been going on. She illegally destroyed physical ballots for a 2016 race, 21 months after a medical marijuana amendment was completely left off the ballot in 2016.”

“This specific county has had a lot of controversy in its background, and seems to be always sort of the stem of a lot of problems,” she added.

Co-host Joy Behar chimed in, arguing that Snipes, who’s been re-elected four times since  2003, should be canned. Hostin then fact-checked McCain’s assertions.

“I think on the Republican side, you’re hearing so much about this woman, Brenda Snipes, and the bottom line is, she did destroy the ballots, but it was 12 months after the election,” she said. “It’s not like it changed the election.”

Earlier this year, a judge ruled that Snipes had violated the law by destroying ballots, which are required to be preserved for 22 months. Her office also came under fire after leaving a marijuana referendum off some ballots that very same year, which Hostin agreed was bothersome.

“But the suggestion that Broward County, which does largely skew Democratic, is the problem, I think is a little bit dishonest,” she told McCain.

Co-host Whoopi Goldberg said inconsistencies like this are all the more reason for the votes to be recounted.

“Count the ballots,” she said. “Then you won’t be wondering whether you won or lost, and it won’t be a problem.”
