Angela Simmons‘ ex-fiance Sutton Tennyson lost his life to gun violence on Saturday and the man who’s allegedly responsible for the murder has handed himself over to police.
Tennyson, 37, was fatally shot on November 3rd just outside of his home after getting into a heated argument with another man which eventually escalated. The Atlanta Police Department said Simmons’ former partner suffered from multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead in a garage when officers arrived.
The man who’s suspected of killing Tennyson is 44-year-old Michael Williams. He turned himself over to Atlanta police on Wednesday afternoon, TMZ reported. Williams’ attorney Jackie Patterson said that his client denies shooting and killing Tennyson and plans on fighting the charges to prove his innocence.
“We are fighting this case vigorously, all the way to a jury trial,” Patterson told People Magazine, while making reference to murder cases that take years to conclude a verdict. “It’s gonna be a long process.”
The suspect “sped from the scene in a car” after firing several shots at Tennyson according to police.
Williams is being charged aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a firearm during commission of a felony and murder. He is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday at 11 a.m.
Simmons has been grieving over the loss of her ex-fiance and shared multiple photos of he and their two-year-old son Sutton Joseph on Instagram on Sunday morning.
“Thank you for leaving behind my greatest gift,” Simmons wrote in a post alongside several family pictures and videos. “Thank you for the out pouring [sic] of love everyone. I cant believe I’m even saying Rest In Peace Sutton.”
The “Growing Hip Hop” star also promised the father of her child that she would always take of their son.
“I promise to hold SJ down in every way I promise,” she wrote while adding a heart emoji.
