Angela Simmons has broken her silence on the death of her ex-fiancé and the father of her young son.
The “Growing Up Hip Hop” star took to Instagram Sunday, Nov. 4 to publicly react to losing Sutton Tennyson, whose body was discovered in his garage with multiple gunshot wounds, Atlanta police told TMZ.
“Thank you for leaving behind my greatest gift,” Simmons wrote in the caption of a slideshow of moments as a former couple and their son, 2-year-old son, who is named after his father. “I’m hurting . I’m numb. Thank you for the out pouring of love everyone . I cant believe I’m even saying Rest In Peace Sutton . I promise to hold SJ down in every way I promise ❣️”
Officers told TMZ they responded to reports of a “shot fired” at Sutton’s home. After initially reporting it was the result of a home invasion, an update found that appears not to be the case. Now, authorities say Sutton was in his driveway speaking with another man when the conversation got heated and he was shot. Meanwhile, the suspect took off in a vehicle.
Fans have poured out with condolences for Simmons and her son online.
“So very sorry for your loss. Praying for peace and comfort that only God can provide.”

Simmons and Tennyson got engaged in April 2016 after getting pregnant with her son. But before 2017 ended, she had called off their engagement and entered 2018 as a single mom.
“I just got to a place where I felt like I wasn’t happy, and I tried, and I tried, and I tried and I wanted it to work because the last thing I wanted to do was not be together with the person I had my child with,” she said in a confessional of her WEtv reality show. “God had another plan for me.”
