Thursday’s episode of “Braxton Family Values” got a little heated as the Braxtons paid another visit to Iyanla Vanzant to help mend their family relationship, leading Evelyn Braxton to check one of her daughters about respect. During the family therapy session, Tamar Braxton felt that she was being disrespected by Vanzant and spoke out.
After having a bit of back and forth, Vanzant asked Tamar simply, “Do you want to do this?” Tamar then replied, “Do you? Cause I don’t appreciate you keep throwing out these names.” She began yelling, “What about my disrespect, all I have been is respectful!”
Evelyn abruptly stopped Tamar in midsentence and said, “Wait a minute! Calm down. Whether you agree with Iyanla or not, you cannot disrespect her. ‘Cause none of you [speaking to her other daughters] were raised that way.” She continued, “Respect your elders, you wanna go with the word [the Bible]?”
The “Prettiest Girl” singer tried to get off a sassy rebuttal to her mother, which was then shut down. Evelyn said, “You say one more word, I got you. We will respect her [Vanzant]!”
In a prior episode and season finale of “Braxton Family Values,” the girls Tamar, Toni Braxton, Towanda Braxton, Trina Braxton, and their mom Evelyn decided to visit Vanzant so she could mediate some of their family issues.
