After much anticipation, Meghan McCain has announced her return to “The View.”
McCain, 33, took a month-long hiatus from the show after the death of her father, Sen. John McCain, who last his battle with brain cancer in late August. He was 81 years old.
“I will be getting back on the horse @theviewabc Monday, October 8th,” McCain wrote in an Instagram post Monday. “Thank you all for your patience and understanding ‘It’s not about how hard you hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward.’ ”
The conservative co-host was absent from the 22nd season premiere of “The View” earlier last month as she continued mourning her dad’s loss. Fans missed seeing McCain at the roundtable alongside fellow hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Sunny Hostin, Joy Behar, and newcomer Abby Huntsman as she remained hidden from the public eye.
Naturally, Monday’s news was met with cheers and well-wishes from McCain’s biggest fans.
“Meghan, so happy you are returning,” one person wrote. “I pray that your smile is coming closer to replacing your tears!”
“So happy for you Meghan!” another fan chimed in. “The first year is the hardest I know Can’t wait to see you Monday”
One fan gave McCain a warm “Welcome back!” adding, “You have been in the hearts and minds of so many people. I’m looking forward to your return. Please take care!”
Just weeks ago, McCain’s close friend S.E. Cupp confirmed the host would be taking a longer break than expected from the show, noting how hard the senator’s death had been on her. It was unclear when fans could expect her return.
“She’s OK. She’s still working through it,” Cupp told Bravo host Andy Cohen. “She’s taking a leave before she comes back into it all. It’s been really hard on her.”
September 25 marked one month since the elder McCain’s passing.
