Meghan McCain is doing her best to adjust to life without her father, Sen. John McCain, who passed away just over one month ago today.
On Monday, McCain shared a touching photo of she and her dear dad sitting alongside each other with a sunny view of Cornfield, Ariz. sprawled out in front of them. The elder McCain passed away Aug. 25 after a battle with a rare form of brain cancer.
He was 81 years old.
“1 month tomorrow. I love you,” McCain captioned the photo.
Since her father’s death, McCain has laid low as she continues to mourn. However, fans have missed seeing her face on “The View,” where she’s served as the show’s conservative voice for two seasons now. Folks couldn’t help but notice she was absent from her seat during the show’s 22 season premiere earlier this month, after which a close friend confirmed Meghan would be taking an extended leave of absence.
Fans are more than ready for her return, however.
“Beautiful photo, sending lots of love and peace,” one fan commented. “Missing you on The View this morning, but I’m glad you’re taking time for yourself.”
“I loved the father/daughter relationship you had and hope to see you follow in his footsteps and carry on his legacy,” wrote another. “Look forward to when you are ready to return to The View.”
One fan called McCain an “inspiration,” adding, “When do you think you’ll be coming back to the view? We miss you. Be well🙏🏻🍷”
It’s unclear how long McCain will be away, but close friend Abby Huntsman said Sen. McCain’s death has been pretty tough on the co-host.
“Meghan is like a sister to me and this was the hardest thing she has ever been through,” said Huntsman, who’s also now a co-host on “The View.” “Her dad was her best friend, her dad was everything.”
