90’s MC, Queen Latifah recently weighed in on the brawl between female rappers Nicki Minaj and Cardi B during New York Fashion Week.
Latifah dropped by “Live with Kelly and Ryan” on Sept. 18 and the hosts were curious as to what she thought about Minaj and Cardi B.’s ‘dust-up.’ Kelly Rippa asked Latifah if the two rap stars should just collaborate on an album and put their differences aside.
The “Set It Off” actress said she’s all for a good “dust-up”, but she would like for Minaj and Cardi B. to end their squabble.
“I have a lot of respect for female rappers. We are such a powerful minority,” said Latifah. “I say powerful in the sense that if you hear a female rapper’s record come through on the radio, you hear that record, you know that record, you memorize that record. We just stand out […] I’d really rather see ’em shoot the fair one on a record and take everybody out.”
The “Just Another Day” musician said she could help the collaboration between the two female rappers come alive by producing the project.
“Executive produce [a] ‘We Are The World’ situation’,” she said.
Cardi B. and Minaj got into a heated altercation during NYFW and almost fought. The “Bodak Yellow” artist threw a shoe at Minaj and said the “Chun-Li” artist criticized her parenting skills. Security intervened and ended the dispute between the rivals and Cardi B. was escorted from the fashion event.
