Meghan McCain returned to social media Thursday after weeks of laying low as she continues mourning the death of her father, Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.).
McCain died Aug. 25 after a battle with a rare form of brain cancer. He was 81 years old.
In a recent Instagram post, Megan shared video of country music legend Johnny Cash singing “Man In Black” to a live audience. The song’s somber lyrics seem to hint at the head space the Fox News alum has been in since her father’s passing.
“Oh, I’d love to wear a rainbow everyday / And tell the world that everything’s okay / But I’ll try to carry off a little darkness on my back ’til things are a little brighter / I’m the man in black,” Cash sings

Fans have grown sad with Meghan’s extended absence on “The View,” where she serves as the conservative voice alongside panelists Whoopi Goldberg, Sunny Hostin, Joy Behar and now newcomer and good friend Abby Huntsman. Many fans took to the comments section to wish Meghan well but made it known they were ready for her return to the talk show.
“I hope you come back on the view as your true self,” one person wrote. “You’re missed. It needs you I hope you need them. Be well.”
“Meghan, Will you be coming back to The View soon? I miss you and your opinions! 😊” another fan chimed in.
One fan was a bit more patient, writing, ” I miss seeing you on The View. But understand you need family time. God Bless and am waiting patiently for your return to The View.”
It’s unclear when Meghan will make her return to the talk show.
