Swizz Beatz Gets High Praise for Message to Men Who Marry a Successful ‘Queen:’ ‘Step Your Game Up’

Swizz Beatz is calling out guys who are insecure about holding down a woman who’s attained more success than they have.

The rapper and record producer took time out of his day Wednesday, Aug. 30 to issue a public service announcement of sorts to take some jealous guys to task.

“Attention all MEN‼️ You shouldn’t be jealous or upset if you have a Queen that’s successful, smarter or better than you!” the MC said in the lengthy post. “What you should do is thank the most high or step your game up! I can’t stand when I see brothers jealous of the lady they’re with. That s— is very weak!!!!! #Realtalk Lady’s keep doing you 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽 #aliciakeys #ladys #queens #goddess.”

Fans wasted no time responding to Swizz’s message, which was accompanied by a photo of him alongside his wife of eight years, Alicia Keys, in Egypt.

“That’s what I’m talking about!! ✨🌶✈️💏”

“I appreciate my Queen every day! 👊🏾💯💙 #Truth.”

“That’s crazy for one to be jealous of his or her other half. No Cap Fact tho bro💯💪🏾.”

“These are facts Brov and we had sons on the same day in October.”

“@therealswizzz A successful queen is motivational! That’s just common sense in my world G! #queens.”

“@therealswizzz That’s the difference between a real man and loser. A man who doesn’t take care of his family is not a real man.”

However, one took aim at Swizz for not praising his children’s other mothers like singer Mashonda, who previously accused Keys of being a homewrecker after the pianist started seeing Swizz while he was married.

“@therealswizzz that’s correct but do you honor, respect, value, and treat all of your children’s mothers with this level of respect? Are they all not Queens as well? They bore your children. I mean no disrespect at all when I say this, but I have never seen you show praise to ALL of them. Sean Combs does. 🤷🏽‍♀️”

But the rapper hit back writing presumably of Mashonda, “@trozenberg I guess that’s why my ex is in Egypt with us now🤷🏽‍♂️ let’s do our research before we 👀.”

Democracy needs journalism it can trust.

This election season, the stakes are higher than usual — and so is the pressure on newsrooms to soften their coverage, stay quiet, or just disappear. Independent reporting, the kind that answers to readers instead of advertisers or political pressure, matters more in a moment like this, not less.

For over 14 years, Atlanta Black Star has stayed independent and reader-funded. We have no corporate owner and no shareholders telling us what to cover or how to cover it. That independence is also our biggest vulnerability: nothing protects it except readers choosing to fund it directly.

Newspaper ad revenue has fallen more than 80% since 2005, and local newsrooms are closing at a rate of roughly two a week nationwide. When outlets go under in a moment like this, it's rarely the independent, reader-funded ones that get to stick around.

We know a request for support isn't why you came here. But without readers choosing to fund this work directly, the depth of reporting we can do at home and abroad shrinks along with everyone else's. If you're not in a position to give, that doesn't change how much we value you as a reader.

If you are able to, a recurring contribution does more for us than a single one-time gift, because it lets us plan the next investigation instead of just the next invoice. It takes about 30 seconds, no long form, no account. Thank you for continuing to support independent journalism and freedom of the press.
