A woman dubbed “Poolside Patty” grew visibly agitated after a Black pool-goer and his son refused to appease her anger over their presence at the neighborhood pool last week.
A two-minute video of the incident shows the unidentified man and his son wading in the pool as a white woman shouts at them from the other side of the gate. The lady is heard repeatedly questioning the man about where he lives and who his “guest” is.
The man ignores her, however, and chalks it up to yet another incident of swimming while black.
“All these videos we’ve been seeing on Facebook is happening to me and my son,” the man says. ” … What should we name her? Pool side Patty! That’s gonna be her name. We’re just swimming and she’s mad. She’s upset.”
The woman paces back and forth as she continues pegging the father and son with unnecessary questions.
“All you have to do is tell me what apartment are you from so I know [inaudible],” she shouts as the camera rolls. “Who are you friends with? Who is your guest?
“You’re in a private property pool!” she adds.
After about a minute, the man hops out of the pool in an effort to calm the situation and retrieves his pool key from a nearby bag. He walks over to the main gate, opens it, locks it behind and then opens it again, proving he lives there.
This did little to satisfy the enraged woman, who then accused the man of stealing the key.
“How do I not know that those keys aren’t stolen?” she asked. “How do I know? I don’t know. All you have to do is tell me!”
The sound in the video cuts out and the man calmly walks off, refusing to let the shouting woman ruin his day at the pool with his son.
