Cardi B Promptly Shuts Down Rumor That Nicki Minaj Gifted Her Baby with $5K Gift Basket

Hip-hop artist Cardi B. must have caught wind of the rumor that Nicki Minaj gifted her a $5,000 gift basket for her newborn Kulture. However, the “Bodak Yellow” artist put the speculation to rest and said it wasn’t true.

On Hollywood’s Unlocked Instagram account, the news source wrote that Minaj bought Cardi the expensive basket and the rapper responded, “Not true.”

Cardi’s team reportedly contacted Petit Trésor, a prestigious baby boutique, and asked the store to look for Minaj’s gift tracking number according to TMZ. However, the musician’s team was said the “Chun-Li” star hadn’t bought an item.

Fans chimed in on the conversation and one person wrote, “Who cares thoe…she’s[Nicki Minaj] not obligated to give her a gift.”

Another person added, “She [Cardi B] doesn’t want people trying to say that they should be friends on account of this. So making sure people know it isn’t true is the best thing for her to do.”

One fan said, “Who would like a person that sneak diss and talks shit about ppl then cries on a radio station.”

“The barbs made that shit up! 😂,” an Instagram user wrote.

Cardi B. and Nicki Minaj were beefing after the 25-year-old accused “Barbz” of changing her “Motosport” verse that both ladies were featured on.

“The only thing with Cardi that really really hurt my feelings was the first interview she did after ‘Motorsport’ came out,” Minaj said during an interview with Zane Lowe. “I remember when I first came in the game, if a female of that stature had done a feature with me on it, I would only be singing their praises and saying thank you. The first interview she did after ‘Motorsport’ came out, it just really hurt me. She looked so aggravated and angry and the only thing she said was, ‘Oh, I didn’t hear that. I didn’t hear that verse.’ I was like what?”

However, the two apparently squashed the beef at the 2018 Met Gala. The two artists were pictured together and were seen conversing.

Cardi B. is focused on her latest gift which is her baby girl Kulture Kiari Cephus who she welcomed with husband, Migos rapper, Offset on July 10th.

Democracy needs journalism it can trust.

This election season, the stakes are higher than usual — and so is the pressure on newsrooms to soften their coverage, stay quiet, or just disappear. Independent reporting, the kind that answers to readers instead of advertisers or political pressure, matters more in a moment like this, not less.

For over 14 years, Atlanta Black Star has stayed independent and reader-funded. We have no corporate owner and no shareholders telling us what to cover or how to cover it. That independence is also our biggest vulnerability: nothing protects it except readers choosing to fund it directly.

Newspaper ad revenue has fallen more than 80% since 2005, and local newsrooms are closing at a rate of roughly two a week nationwide. When outlets go under in a moment like this, it's rarely the independent, reader-funded ones that get to stick around.

We know a request for support isn't why you came here. But without readers choosing to fund this work directly, the depth of reporting we can do at home and abroad shrinks along with everyone else's. If you're not in a position to give, that doesn't change how much we value you as a reader.

If you are able to, a recurring contribution does more for us than a single one-time gift, because it lets us plan the next investigation instead of just the next invoice. It takes about 30 seconds, no long form, no account. Thank you for continuing to support independent journalism and freedom of the press.
