Tank Defends Fiancée Against Fans Who Slam Her for Not Being Black

Singer Tank proudly showed off his Woman Crush Wednesday and Woman Crush Everyday Zena Foster on Instagram recently. But he was met with backlash from fans over his fiancée’s apparent lack of blackness.

“Hold on to your #WCW #WCE #RnBMoney #TheGeneral #BabbsToTheBone,” he captioned the photo shot by wedding photographer Haley Rynn Ringo.

The “When We” singer, whose real name is Durrell Babbs, was met with lots of praise, initially.

“Yessir my brother beautiful #couplegoals.”

“Relationship goals ☝🏿.”

“My favorite couple 😍😍😍.”

“This is EVERYTHING LAWD!!!! 😩😩😩.”

But then, criticism came when fans discovered the woman he’s set to marry didn’t seem to be Black.

“Rich Black men just don’t date or marry Black women hardly ever anymore,” someone said.

Another user responded, “that’s why the divorce they ass and take they money.”

And Tank, not one to back away from a back-and-forth on social media, hit reply.

“@wyldfree36 good thing she’s Black..🤷🏽‍♂️🤣🤣🤣.”

“@therealtank She’s like 2% Black!! 🤷🏽‍♀️,” a user responded.

“@msshelleybabii 50% actually but should it matter?…🤷🏽‍♂️”

Another fan decided they’d give up Tank’s music completely, to which the singer simply replied with a peace emoji.

Fans continued to debate the issue, taking sides on if it matters how Black Foster is or if it matters that she’s Black at all.

“@therealtank funny how their tune changed. All you had to say was ‘She’s Black’ and now it’s ‘What a beautiful Black woman!’ So first you have a problem with her and now, all of a sudden, she’s beautiful? Lol! Ridiculous. It doesn’t matter what she is. She’s a woman he loves and is marrying. That’s enough for him, which has zero to do with you, so move on. Dang!”

“Y’all can say wtf you want to. Either way, they portray themselves as loving Black women all in their videos n then marry white. Malcolm X said not to do this and gave a million reasons why….”

“Why are people so pressed about other peoples partners? He is happy. Leave him alone.”

Tank got engaged to Foster, his longtime girlfriend, at the top of 2017. The couple has reportedly been together since 2005 and share son Zion and daughter Zoey together. According to their wedding photographer’s Instagram page, they’re set to walk down the aisle later this month.
