Reginae Carter, former “Growing Up Hip Hop” star and daughter of rapper Lil Wayne, seems to be swarmed by hateful comments lately about dating rapper YFN Lucci who is a bit older than her.

Carter has been dating Lucci for some time now but that hasn’t stopped fans and haters from voicing their opinion about the couple. The young reality star continued to post pictures with her boyfriend’s chain and tried to keep a positive attitude but it appears the stress may be getting to her. “Shining like a diamond I guess I been under pressure lately 💫”

“You are a diamond forget the pressure do you 🤞🏽😘💕,” said one fan.

Just a few days later the reality starlet appeared to address her haters head-on. “They be watching what they say especially when it’s to my face.”

The caption caused others to come to her defense. “but u must admit they hate on her 4 no reason ,and I don’t understand how u hate on a man’s daughter that literally gave us life with his music”

“Fuck wat they sayn ur Wayne’s daughter, in one way or another ur dad schooled us,so u the sub of him .period!,haters her unk said it best put sum respek on it,all tree million yall”

Someone even called on the rapper to put a smile back on his girlfriend’s face. “@yfnlucci maaaan go put that smile baxk on her face frfr”

The pressure may have returned after Lucci was caught on camera dancing with strippers and throwing money at them. The rapper proceeded to delete all of his pictures with Carter but she kept her pictures with the rapper up and received a ton of backlash in return.

“You’re suppose to put that trust into your Dad, Reginae. Use condoms please. Remember that parents just don’t understand.”

“so lucci deleted you off his page but he still on yours what happened sis?”

“why he deleted u off his page than deleted all his pictures @toyawright school her about these n*ggas man”

“I hope y’all ain’t break up 😒”

As of the BET Awards late last month, the couple appear to still be together. Which means Carter will have to continue to fight her haters.

Democracy needs journalism it can trust.

This election season, the stakes are higher than usual — and so is the pressure on newsrooms to soften their coverage, stay quiet, or just disappear. Independent reporting, the kind that answers to readers instead of advertisers or political pressure, matters more in a moment like this, not less.

For over 14 years, Atlanta Black Star has stayed independent and reader-funded. We have no corporate owner and no shareholders telling us what to cover or how to cover it. That independence is also our biggest vulnerability: nothing protects it except readers choosing to fund it directly.

Newspaper ad revenue has fallen more than 80% since 2005, and local newsrooms are closing at a rate of roughly two a week nationwide. When outlets go under in a moment like this, it's rarely the independent, reader-funded ones that get to stick around.

We know a request for support isn't why you came here. But without readers choosing to fund this work directly, the depth of reporting we can do at home and abroad shrinks along with everyone else's. If you're not in a position to give, that doesn't change how much we value you as a reader.

If you are able to, a recurring contribution does more for us than a single one-time gift, because it lets us plan the next investigation instead of just the next invoice. It takes about 30 seconds, no long form, no account. Thank you for continuing to support independent journalism and freedom of the press.
